PSA: Choosing a Topic

Directions: Choose an issue that is important in the world today, and that is equally important to you. If you need help thinking of a topic, click here.

Post on the Blog:


1.) Brainstorm possible topics that relate to your issue. For Example: If your issue is pollution, some topics might be recycling, water pollution, or planting and maintaining more trees. Post the issue AND topic that most interests you onto the blog.

Example: 
Issue: Bullying
Topic: Teen Suicide


2.) Do research on your topic using the Internet. Make sure you are looking at reliable websites. Find at  least three relevant statistics around your issue. Post your statistics AND the websites you found them on, onto the blog. 


Example:
Statistic: Bully victims are between 2 to 9 times more likely to consider suicide than non-victims, according to studies by Yale University

Public Service Announcement

What is a Public Service Announcement?

Announcements that inform the public about safety and health information, community services or public affairs. Produced and programmed much like commercials, but usually not produced for profit.
 



Directions: 

1.Watch each Public Service Announcement.

2.Answer the questions below for two of the videos.  

3.Post your responses on the blog in complete sentences. You can copy and paste the questions into your response.

 

Questions: 

1.) What is the main message of the PSA? Does the message persuade you? Why or why not?

2.) How did the producers use words and pictures to get across their message?

3.) How did the actors portray the message? Were any voiceovers used? How were they used?  

4.) If you were going to film a PSA about this topic, list two changes you would make in it.
